FINDING FOCUS

This blog has been a lot about everything, but never (except when I was on my Erasmus exchange) had any special focus. I have always hated that, but to tell you the truth, I always tried to focus on something, but nothing ever stuck.

I have always been passionate about food, cooking, baking, recipes and MUSIC. While posting recipes is fun and quite easy, writing anything about music scared the shit out of me. How would I know anything about music or bands or whatever. I'm just a regular girl that likes a certain type of music. Why would anyone listen to things I have to say about music.

And then I met THE BOY and he is all about music. Plays in a band, loves going to good concerts, knows tons of bands. And after some debating (and convincing), we decided to give blogging a try. As a couple. Writing about music, bands (mostly interviews) and also, about vegan food, since we both became vegan sometime in spring.

And the blog has been a success. Well, to me it has been. Especially because of the gratefulness and kindness we got from the bands we interviewed so far.

It's still hard to stick to writing, especially when there are so many other things in life trying to mess with our time, but we are not going to give up. He is my motivator and I am his. And I'm really happy that I found my focus, my blogging niche.

I can't say that I'm officially "killing" this blog, BUT, at least in the near future, there is not going to be anything new posted here. I moved my ass to SAWDUST & BEER, and if you would still like to read the stuff I write and post, follow me there. As it is appropriate, we have a lot of social channels, so you can follow us on:

Hopefully, see you there, my friends.

LIEBSTER AWARD: 2014 EDITION

Sabina from Sabina's Little Happy Place nominated me for this award a long time ago (thank you), but I just didn't take the time to write it. So here we go. Finally.

The rules for the Liebster Award:

1. Thank the person who nominated you and link back up to their blog
2. State 11 facts about yourself
3. Answer the 11 questions given to you by the nominator
4. Nominate 11 other bloggers for this award who have less than 200 followers
5. Create 11 questions for your nominees to answer
6. Let the nominees know that they have been nominated by going to their blog and notifying them.

Facts about me:

1. I am drinking beer at the moment.

4. I had enough of winter.

9. I want to finish my bachelor's degree as soon as possible.
10. I don't care about the Olympic games this year.

By the way, I wrote this on Sunday, so maybe some of the answers are not really week-day appropriate. ;)

11. If you could eat one particular food for the rest of your life, what would it be? Pizza. Definitely.

Nominations:

And now I am gonna break the rules. That's the point of the rules, isn't it? Unfortunately, I don't know 11 "new" bloggers, that I could nominate, because most of the ones I know, have already been nominated. So I am gonna nominate as many bloggers as I can think of:

THANK YOU

I guess it's time for this. Time to say something about the whole Erasmus experience and to say thanks to all everybody that contributed to the experience. Honestly, doing an Erasmus exchange was the best decision I have made so far. These last 6 months have been amazing. So many new places, new experience, new people. People that I will hopefully see again soon and who will stay in my heart forever. I am going to try to say thanks to all of you and I deeply apologize in advance in case I forget somebody.

Thank you (the order is random)
  • My mentor group (all the great mentors and all the fun co-members) who helped me get through first two or three weeks and of course for organizing all the fun events we had together (especially the sittning).
  • Maria and Nikta for helping me survive the first day. Maybe it wasn't noticeable, but I was freaking out. So thank you for making it amazing from the very start.
  • Michiel for crazy partying, long talks and liking my food (if I am not mistaking, you still owe me a lunch).
  • Hanna for liking me instantly, getting tipsy sharing a strong cider and telling me all you dirty secrets. And of course for letting me share all of mine with you. And for all the amazing afternoons, nights, chats and all the rest. It wouldn't be the same without you.
  • Sarah for being the best class mate in all of the classes, for long talks about interesting (and sometimes strange) topics, for the trip to Göteborg and for the sweetest goodbye pastry in world.
  • Nina for being the only non-parent person that visited me and for drinking all that gin with me.
  • Andraž for being the best boyfriend, for not being too jealous because all the gorgeous Swedish boys, for not missing me too much and for spending the holidays with me in Malmö.
  • All the (current and ex) ESS people (Ainize, Alexandra, Stephanie, Aurelien, Erik, Nuno, Steve, Odei and all the rest) because you know how to party and you excepted me in your fun group.
  • Masami and Garry for hosting amazing dinners and making DELICIOUS food. Hope to see you again soon in Slovenia.
  • Everybody that came to my last dinner, because you all made my last weekend perfect and made my departure even harder (by the way, James, breaking glass brings luck, so I guess I have to thank you for not having any problems on my travel home).
  • Nice Starbucks baristas for writing my name correctly and for speaking (slow) Swedish with me.
  • Metka for bringing more life to the apartment from time to time.
  • My readers for convincing me I should continue writing my blog even when I am back home.
  • Simon for being as strange as he can be. :D
  • Sweden for being an amazing country and not at all cold (ok, just a little bit in the end) and rainy as I thought you would be.

And the BIGGEST thank you to
  • The best big brother on the planet, Miha, for sharing his apartment with me, for cooking the best food, for liking my cooking, for taking me to parties with him and for letting me meet his amazing co-workers. I hope I wasn't a big burden and that you're gonna miss me now that I'm gone. ;)
  • And last but not least, my awesome parents, for the encouragement, for not missing me too much and for the financial support. I could not at all do it without you.
I think this is it. It was awesome. Thank you all.

Love, Kaja. ♥

RESOLUTIONS

New year, new resolutions. I know many people (my boyfriend included) think new year's resolutions are stupid, because you never stick to them or you make a resolution that is too easy and you already know you're going to do it. But I still think they are great, because we all need something that drives us, motivates us so we can achieve even more. So here are my resolutions for 2014:

  • Write more (on my newly good-looking blog).
  • Post at least one recipe on your blog per month.
  • Read more (regular books, not the ones you have to read for school).
  • Drink more tea (I have become a little bit obsessed with it and I want to continue with my obsession as you can already see on the photo).
  • Graduate (I only have to write one paper and my thesis and I plan on doing that before June).
  • Travel at least once (I am thinking about Netherlands in spring or beginning of summer).
  • Go to all the interesting concerts around you.
  • Start taking photos with your Canon.
  • Start living healthier (meaning more exercise, since I am already eating healthier than I did last year, if we exclude the holidays of course).
  • Find one new thing to do that will make you happy.
  • At the end of the year, check if you stuck to your resolutions.

I am already working on some of them and hoping I will start realizing the rest of them as soon as possible. Fingers crossed.

What are your resolution for 2014?

Novo leto, nove zaobljube.

Ahh who am I kidding: jeeeeeeej!

This is it.

English version:

I've made two decisions today. The first one was that I will write my blog also in Slovenian, because it is easier and faster to write about all that will happen to me in Sweden after this Saturday. Also, it will be easier to read for my slovenian followers. But I will do my best and try to translate every post in English as soon as possible (like today). Maybe I will also write in swedish? ;)

The second decision was that I will write this blog post while drinking my last coffee (almost definitely) this year in Mango. An introduction to my exchange in Sweden, which I hope will give me a lot of material to write here about.

When I think about the fact that I have to start packing tomorrow I feel the chills over my spine. And it's not because it's a little bit colder in Malmo than it is here, but it's because the leaving week has come to fact. If everything goes according to plans, I will be sitting on a plane heading to Copenhagen on Saturday at 7AM. Omg, I'll be having my Saturday lunch in Sweden already. Yay or nay? Ahh who am I kidding: yaaaaaaaay! One of my dreams is finally coming true. I can't wait to meet new people, new culture, new places, new knowledge ... "all by myself"...

Why the "s? Because I will be staying in Malmö with my brother, who lives there for almost two years already. It was so nice from him to offer me a room in his apartment, since I didn't get a room in a student house. I feel like Miha is excited that he will share his apartment with his little sister for 5 moths and have company while listening to indie punk rock music on SomaFM in the morning.

What about the fears? I don't actually fear a lot of things. Maybe just the swedish language, but I will try to learn it as fast as I can. And the second fear is missing my boyfriend too much. But I guess I will have to survive that too, because I feel that the time will past really (too) quickly.

I think this is a good introduction to my (I hope regularly) stories about the "trip" to the North. I hope I will have at least some followers who will be happy for and with me. I hope I will inspire at least one of you for a student exchange or anything like it, like I was inspired by some other bloggers.

This is it. I drank my coffee. And now it's time to head home and spend some time with my folks at home.

Love, Kaja.

Just something about me.

As you might have guessed I'm a blonde law student. Ha, nice one. At the moment I'm 22 and I tried blogging many times about different things, but I never sticked to it, probably because there are just too many things that are interesting and I guess sticking to one topic is just not my thing. I'm a true Gemini. So I thought to myself, Kaja, why don't you just make a random blog and post about all the things that interest you and are popular in your life at the moment. So, this is it. My random life is getting public.

And what are the highlights of my life right now?
I'm in my fourth year of law school and in March I'm going to NYC and Washington for 2 weeks. This was probably the reason why I decided to make this blog. I had to make one for the "excursion group" (or whatever you can call it) and I guess it inspired me. We need a blog, so everyone can see/read what we are doing there and be jealous. Heh, just kidding (not really). But I actually don't know if I'm the one who will be posting on the blog, or the "prize" will go to someone else. But anyway, here is the Two Weeks in the USA blog: http://twoweeksintheusa.blogspot.com/ (it's in Slovene!). AND, if I'm not the main blogger on that blog, or even so, I just need a blog, so I post about things that I will be doing in the US, cause I think I have different plans like the others (not so much shopping).

I'm also planing to go on a half-year Erasmus exchange next year, so this is another reason for having a blog. I don't know where I'm going, cause I have to apply this week, but my first wish is Lund, Sweden. Second option is Aalborg, Denmark. We will see ...

Enough for the first post on this brand new blog, cause I'm really tired. It's Mardi Gras (or pust in Slovene) and we were walking all day around the town, and it was cold and now I just want to go to bed. Oh yes, I almost forgot. I was a hobbit, my friend was the Witch King and her sister was Sauron (all from Lord of the Rings if you don't know). I think we looked amazing.

So this is it. First post on my new blog. Kaja is out.
