BEST. SHOW. EVER.

Shell Beach + Roam + Enter Shikari @ Kino Šiška (12. October 2014)

I’m trying to find the words to describe this crazy, extraordinary, awesome show I went to yesterday, but I will just let the photos and the video talk for themselves (please, click on them if you want to see them in full size).

Great company + Crazy bands + Energetic crowd + Amazing music + Meeting band members + New hoodie = PERFECTION!

Hint: I’m also in the video (around 2:00), screaming back at the singer haha. I’m telling you … crazy people. :D

P.S.: As you can see, I'm not so blonde anymore. But I'm getting lighter and lighter every time I wash my hair, so I'm probably gonna be blonde again in a week or two. So no need to change my blog's title.

A GUIDE TO SURVIVING LAW SCHOOL

I graduated law school! YAY! And that’s the main reason why I haven’t posted anything lately. I was writing my thesis and preparing my thesis presentation over the last month and than celebrating the graduation since last Monday. But even though I have graduated, it doesn’t really feel like it, since I still have to do my masters next year. So it’s not the end yet, but at the same time, it’s something.

I have to admit, five years of law school weren’t a piece of cake and they are not suppose to be easy, since it’s freaking law school, right? But there are some things (tips) that can help anyone, who is struggling with their law studies or thinking about studying law in the near (or far) future that helped me. I want to share three of them with you.

1. You butt will hurt, but it’s worth the pain!
Meaning you will have to sit behind your desk and a pile of books for hours and hours (my maximum was 13 hours of studying per day for a week or two). Law school is tough and there are a lot of subject that you will probably find boring (maybe not at first, cause the professor is really fun, but when you will have to remember all 1000 pages in a book he wrote, he will not seem so fun anymore, trust me), but you have to pass them or, if you’re like me, pass them with a grade that contributes to your average score. It’s a lot easier when you study subjects that are really interesting and are a part of a field of law you hope you will work sometime in the future. But for me, that was a really short list of subjects. But every time you think about giving up just remember, you will be a lawyer when you finish school. And with a great grade average, even in a bad economy, there will be working opportunities waiting for you. Maybe you will have to find them by yourself, maybe work you butt a little bit more, but eventually, you will find something you like to do and all the “butt pain” will be forgotten.

2. Behind every successful woman there is a substantial amount of coffee!
Simple. If you have to study more than half of your day, you need something to keep you awake. I have to admit, I have always hated the taste of coffee. I survived unrealistically early mornings, after just a few hours of sleep, all throughout high school without a sip of coffee. But in my third year of law school I realized that I’m running out of my “youngster” energy and that I need to find something that will keep me up for hours. And there it was, a warm, light brown, wonderful cup of coffee with milk, just waiting for me to try it. It wasn’t love at first sight, but I grew more and more fond of “her” during all the long nights of studying that year. And now it’s true love, a love that helped me pass all my exams, write my thesis and graduate. Thank you, you delicious cup of heaven.

3. Friends don’t let friends do stupid things alone!
After all the long hours behind (maybe not always so) useful books, you will get grumpy. Trust me, you will. And that’s when your (good, amazing, the best) friends jump in. They are the ones who will have to listen to all your complaining about how law school is killing you, how you chose the wrong faculty, etc. And since they will have to be the one to make you feel better, make sure you have really good friends standing next to you (or at least one). The one that will drag you away from the huge pile of books, order a beer for you in your favorite bar, tell you a gossip or a joke and make you forget about all the not-so-amazing stuff you have to study for the exam you have the following week. Believe me, just sitting locked up in your room for weeks or months is not productive at all. My grades were actually higher when I took some time to unwind during exam periods than they were when I was just studying and not at all socializing (which I did during my first two years). So, even if you know you there is still a lot you have to learn before your exam, trust me, a half an hour and a quick chat with your best friend will only do you good.

Here you go. Here are the three main things that got me through my five years of law school. Maybe they seem obvious to you, but it took me some time to realize what really matters and what motivates me. I really wish I knew everything I know now about how to approach law studies when I started my first year. Things would be a lot easier. So I really hope this post will help at least one person, somewhere, sometime. :)

WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN

I'm a bad blogger, I know. I have been MIA whole summer, but I don't regret it, since this was the best summer of my life so far. I've been to many different places, seen many wonderful things, heard many amazing bands and met a bunch of interesting new people that made everything even more special.

So first there was Malta. After that I had a few days to relax, wash all the clothes and to pack them up again to go to Zagreb for a few days, to INmusic Festival. This was my first whole festival outside Slovenia. My favorites from all the bands we heard are: The Fratellis, Flogging Molly, Bombay Bicycle Club and of course, the best ones, Crystal Fighters. Actually, all the bands that we heard were amazing (with maybe one or two exceptions) but I don't want to turn this post into one long list.

Untitled UntitledUntitled

When I got back I slept in my bed for a night and then packed my stuff again and headed to Šentviška Gora to Gora Rocka for 3 days (2 nights). Since (almost) all the bands that performed there have been together for at least 10 years (approximately), I felt like I was in high school again. I still don't know if this was a good or a bad thing, but if I sum it up, the weekend was crazy.

After that I had 3 weeks to work on my thesis, which I still haven't finished (yeah I know, the prolonging only makes it worse, but I have become a bad student, I guess). I have sent the parts that I have finished to my mentor and I'm still waiting for the answer and hoping everything is ok and that I will be able to graduate as soon as possible. In between all the writing I also found some time for fun stuff. Thanks to two awesome girls, I went to see/hear a band called TOY that was performing in Italy and we had a blast. I also ordered and received my own toy (haha), a longboard, and it's the best thing ever.

After those 3 (too) long weeks, I packed my bag again and went to the seaside, Camping Brioni (ex Puntižela) to be exact, a place that has been my summer home for around 15 years now. Great location, delicious food, cold drinks, fun people ... what else can a girl ask for. It was exhausting but so much fun.

UntitledUntitledUntitled

Even though most of the people stayed in Puntižela, I had to move my ass again and go to Tolmin to Punk Rock Holiday. If you are following me for at least a year, you can remember that I already talked about this festival last year. Well this year was even better than last year. I knew more bands (preparations people, preparations!) and I met so many great people that I hope I will see again soon. My favorites (bands) this year: Lagwagon, Authority Zero, Templeton Pek, The Real McKenzies, The Toasters, Start at Zero, Real Life Version and of course, the winning award goes to Reel Big Fish (damn, I love ska).

UntitledUntitledUntitled

When I finally got home, my aunt was celebrating her birthday, so that meant another two days of partying. And then my body gave up and I spent 3 days on the couch, drinking tea and pills. But now I'm okay. So let's get this party started again, right? ;)

As a proof that I'm not lying about everything, I made 3 videos: two are from festivals and are made out of short clips that I took while we were listening to certain bands (sorry, there is no video from Gora Rocka, because I didn't have my iPhone with me) and one is "about" Puntižela (also, just some random clips).

Ok, my existence has been proven and now I can go back to enjoying the rest of the summer. Keep your fingers crossed for my thesis and I hope you are having the best summer too.

BREAKFAST IN BED

Untitled
Untitled

I love the summer and I love lazy mornings, when you don't really have anything important to do, because it's summer after all, or you have things to do, but you kind of don't feel like doing them. I hijacked my brother's room, since he doesn't need it anymore, because he lives in Sweden and it's colder there than it is in mine. Also, I started bringing my breakfasts to bed. I think it actually helps me wake up faster and start the day with in a better, happier mood. Sadly, I won't be able to afford many lazy mornings, since I have to start working on my final bachelors thesis again. *sad face*

Do you ever bring your breakfast to bed?

GOZO (MALTA)

UntitledUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitled

Normal blogger would say OMG this post is already sooo long, because of all the photos, let's not make it any longer, but I guess I'm not a normal blogger and I'm not gonna end it here. ;)

I spent a week on Malta (sorry, mostly Gozo, which is not, if you ask a Gozitan, the same) with a friend. She is in love with Gozo and Malta and it was her third time there. She asked me to join her this year, I said yes (wow, so romantic) and we had a BLAST.

I will present you my opinion of the trip and the Maltese islands and show you that a student can actually afford a trip like this (yeah, I'm a student and I have no regular income except for my parent's allowance).

Budget: 400€ = two-way flight with Ryanair from Treviso + 2 nights in a really modern-looking hostel in Msida on Malta + 5 nights in a huge apartment in Marsalforn on Gozo with a view of the sea and the sunset every evening + all the transport (all the bus rides + ferry from Malta to Gozo and back + boat to Comino and back) + bottled water (the water on the islands is not drinkable) + a lot of food (we ate out at least once a day, sometimes two times with a two or three course dinner :D yeah, we went crazy) + some beers and cocktails + some souvenirs.

Malta: We only spent one whole day on Malta and we spent it in Valletta (photos 4 & 5), the capital city. It's not a huge city, but I think it's a city everybody should see at least once. What is to love about Valletta? The architecture. It has been rebuilt recently and it looks magnificent (the locals we talked to don't agree with this). You enter the city center over a huge bridge (it's not good to look down if you are scared of heights) and in front of you is a huge "corridor" with stores and restaurants on the left and the right. I don't think anything I say about it would do it justice, so I think you should just go and see it for yourself.

Untitled

In the afternoon we went to Marsaxlokk (photo 8), a fishing village, located in the south-eastern part of Malta. There was a small market there and the marina was full of colourful boats with eyes on the front. Really cute and a bit scary at the same time. We went to cool down to iPlace, a restaurant where you get your own iPad with the menu and you can use it also to surf the internet and everything else you can do with an iPad.

Gozo: We went to Gozo the second day. Directly to Marsalforn (photos 25 & 26), where our apartment was located. Our huge apartment (it is probably meant for 10 people or something like that, cause it had 3 rooms) with a view of the sea. The beach was just a 2 minute walk away. When we unpacked we went for a short swim, which was interrupted by a jellyfish that burned a little Canadian girl and of course we quickly went out of the water too.

The next day we went to Ramla Beach (photo 22), an orange-sandy beach and in the afternoon to Xlendi (photos 9, 10, & 11), a really cute town with the surrounding that take your breath away. The town is surrounded with huge cliffs (yeah, they are not only in Ireland) on the right and strange yellow rocks and land on the left (kind of looks like Mars, if it was yellow). Ines thinks this is the best place on the whole island and I have to agree with her. It literally took my breath away. And all the stress. When we sat on the yellow rocks for a bit and listened to the waves ... it the most relaxing thing I can imagine.

Untitled

The day after we went to Dwejra to see the Azure Window (photos 14 & 15). If Xlendi does not impress you, this certainly will. It's so huge and it makes you feel so small and weak. There were huge waves and you can understand why there are so many signs saying Don't walk pass this sign! Danger!, cause even sitting maybe 1 or 2 meters away from the edge gave me the chills.

Untitled

On Monday we woke up really early, caught the bus to Mgarr (photo 18) and headed to Comino, the small island between Malta and Gozo, where the Blue Lagoon (photos 17, 19, 20 & 21) is. Even if you think you haven't seen a lot of photos of Malta or Gozo, you have definitely seen a photo of Blue Lagoon at least once in your life. Since we were early and it still wasn't the season, we were almost alone there. But just for two or three hours. At 2PM the place got soooo crowded, we decided to leave. We had some fun on the way back, because of the huge waves. Also, people on the islands, especially on Gozo, are really calm. An example: the guy driving the boat was driving it with his foot on the wheel while he was smoking a cigarette. Damn. What a life.

Untitled

The last day we went to Xlendi again and since it was cloudy and it rained the night before, the sea was very rough. The waves were huge and we enjoyed the place even more than the first time. At least I did. I relaxed, listened to the sea and some music and prepared myself for the depart the next day.

On Wednesday we packed our bags, headed for the bus and the ferry, made a quick stop in Valletta again and then went to the airport (ajruport) and flew back to Treviso. :(

All in all, the trip (vacation) was great. I have never seen so many people that help tourists, if they look a little bit lost, or people that are so polite and say Hi! to you on the street, even if they haven't seen you before and probably won't ever again (well, if you are not Ines of course :D). Also, I won't forget all the yellow limestone houses with an arabic vibe. I don't think I have ever seen anything like this and I have traveled quite a lot.

Soooooooo, I know I was long, but everything above had to be said. If you are impressed by the photos or the description, book a ticket and just go there. If you don't have a lot of money, trust me, you can go there and enjoy it for half of the money we spent, cause we really ate outside and tried to spend as much money as we had. The plain tickets are really cheap if you book them ahead, and you can find cheap hostels and apartments anywhere. The food is quite the same price as it is in Slovenia, but the quality ... so much better. I ate fish or seafood every day (now you understand why we spent so much :D) and it was amazing.

Oh and if you decide to go, tell me. Even though I don't see myself going there again anytime soon (definitely will do that again sometime, but not that soon), Ines would be more than happy to be your guide on the islands for sure. ;)
