Freaking out (a post to myself)

I'm going to the US on Friday and I'm silently freaking out right now! I'm actually not doing anything at the moment (all afternoon really), just freaking out about everything. Will I have enough clothes? Will I have enough shoes? Will I have enough money? Will I spend my time effectively? Do I need to buy anything else before I go? Do I have all the necessary documents? Etc. TO MUCH WORRIES!

*inhale* *exhale* *relax Kaja*

Ugh...I need to calm myself down and this post will do just that. And maybe it will also help someone else, who will be facing this kind of problems before a long trip.

Questions:

  • Will I have enough clothes? Because it's a school trip, we will be going to some important places like the Congress, Wolds Bank, IMF, United Nations, Supreme Court, State Department... And we need to be dressed properly when we visit them. Problem? I don't have many "serious" clothes. But I kind of managed to put some combinations together that actually look ok and smart and sh**. :) so Kaja, relax. You will have enough clothes and if you don't, you can easily buy something there.
  • Will I have enough shoes? The problem is similar to the clothes problem. We need fancy shoes, but you can't walk fast and long with fancy shoes. And what can I do about that? I can wear sneakers, put the fancy shoes in my bag and change my shoes when I come to the destination. See Kaja, problem solved.
  • Will I have enough money? Well if you won't, you can always skip a meal or buy less clothes there. Problem solved ;) haha
  • Will I spend my time effectively and see everything important in the cities? I've already been to NYC, so I just want to go to a few places I haven't seen yet and I thing there will be plenty time for that. And for seeing all the interesting things in Washington also. Relax Kaja. You will see everything important.
  • Do I need to buy anything else before I go there? Well, they have shops there too, right? So you actually don't. :)
  • Do I have all the necessary documents? I need my passport, my airplane ticket and ESTA. I have all that. So I guess I have them all. Relax.

I really had to do something like that. And if you have problems before going on a trip, do something like I did now and you will feel better. At least I do. :) Tomorrow the packing begins, but today I'm only going to relax, cause I am just too lazy to do anything right now. :P

Best Friend Tag

Something new and short. :)

Meet my best friend: NINA

I know her since kindergarten and we've been best friends for years now. 5 facts about her and about our friendship:

  • Main reason for our friendship: we are both equally crazy, wild, funny and sarcastic.
  • Main reason I love her so much: she laughs at my jokes and supports my ideas, no matter how stupid they are.
  • She loves fashion. A lot. And consequently has a lot of beautiful and fashionable clothes. Need a fashion advice? Just ask her. She also has a fashion blog (link).
  • She loves Amy Winehouse. She's really sad that she died, because she won't be able to hear her sing live.
  • She loves food as much as I do and that's a lot. So food is always the main theme of our home-parties.

That's enough. Photos time. :)

American Pancakes for Valentine's Day Lunch

Yesterday was Valentine's Day and since I was at home, I was the one in charge of making lunch. My dad wanted pancakes, so I made them. We usually make normal, thin pancakes, but yesterday I made American pancakes. You know, the thick, fluffy ones. I changed the recipe a little bit, so the pancakes actually were whole-wheat and not so sweet (who needs sugar in the pancake, if you can put a pound of Nutella on it :D) and in the end they were really fluffy and tasty and thick. Yum. And now, cause I'm such a nice girl, I'm gonna share the recipe with you.

What do you need?

  • 2 cups of white flour
  • 2 cups of whole-wheat flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 cups of milk
  • 1 baking powder
  • 4 teaspoons of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of salt

What to do?

Put the flour, salt and baking powder in one bowl and mix it well. Take another two bowls. Separate the eggs and put the egg whites in one bowl and the egg yolks in the other. Beat the egg whites into snow (until they are hard and you can put the bowl upside-down over your head and it doesn't fall down). Add the sugar and milk to the egg yolks and mix well with a mixing machine. Add the mixture to the "flour mixture" and mix it well. And in the end, add the egg whites and mix everything WITH A SPATULA (IMPORTANT! They get more fluffy if you don't mix it with the mixing machine and if you use a spatula). Heat up a non-stick (teflon) pan and use a small scoop to pour the mixture to the pan. The pancakes should be small (about 10 cm wide). When bubbles appear on the top, you turn the pancake around and bake the other side until it's golden brown.

What about the topping?
You can use whatever you want: Nutella, jam, fruit, maple sirup, butter, cream...my favorite are pancakes with Nutella and bananas. :)

That's it. Enjoy the yummy fluffy pancakes, just like my family and I did. ;)

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

A fact is that I love food. I love cooking it, I love smelling it, I love looking at it, I love taking photos of it (and putting them on Instagram of course, #foodporn) and most of all I love eating it. And because of this fact, morning for me is not a bad part of the day, because waking up in the morning for me means BREAKFAST TIME. Hooray!

Breakfast is considered to be the most important meal of the day. It wakes up your metabolism and gives you the energy to start and get through the first half of your day and I realized that a big breakfast helps me with the waiting until lunch, because I get hungry later and so I don't need snacks like chocolate or something like that, which I can buy at the vending machine at my school.

I decided to show you 4 of my breakfasts. I don't really know how healthy they really are, but they are/were definitely good. Yum, yum.

Music, always close to my heart.

Such a poetic title today. One of those days I guess, but it actually has a deeper meaning. Last Thursday I got a tattoo at a tattoo studio called Tetovarna near Maribor. It's a (music) key followed with some notes and it kind of represents the important meaning that music has in my life. No, I'm not actually a musician. I played the piano in music school for 6 years and I know how to play some chords on the guitar, but that's all. But even so, music still represents a big part of my life. It's kind of hard to explain how this goes and I guess all I can say is this cheesy line: I can't live without music. Heh, sounds really cheesy, but it's the truth. Music is the one that always makes me feel better, my iPod, my iPhone or whatever electronic machine I use for listening to music, is always there for me when I need it. I always make lucky playlists to listen to before exams or before important things in my life. I don't know if this really helps, but it sure makes me feel better.

Since I really wanted to get a tattoo for a long, long time, I got an idea about a key and notes and things connected to music, and thanks to Špela, I realized the idea and now I can carry music always close to my heart.

And here it is, my lovely tattoo ...

Just something about me.

As you might have guessed I'm a blonde law student. Ha, nice one. At the moment I'm 22 and I tried blogging many times about different things, but I never sticked to it, probably because there are just too many things that are interesting and I guess sticking to one topic is just not my thing. I'm a true Gemini. So I thought to myself, Kaja, why don't you just make a random blog and post about all the things that interest you and are popular in your life at the moment. So, this is it. My random life is getting public.

And what are the highlights of my life right now?
I'm in my fourth year of law school and in March I'm going to NYC and Washington for 2 weeks. This was probably the reason why I decided to make this blog. I had to make one for the "excursion group" (or whatever you can call it) and I guess it inspired me. We need a blog, so everyone can see/read what we are doing there and be jealous. Heh, just kidding (not really). But I actually don't know if I'm the one who will be posting on the blog, or the "prize" will go to someone else. But anyway, here is the Two Weeks in the USA blog: http://twoweeksintheusa.blogspot.com/ (it's in Slovene!). AND, if I'm not the main blogger on that blog, or even so, I just need a blog, so I post about things that I will be doing in the US, cause I think I have different plans like the others (not so much shopping).

I'm also planing to go on a half-year Erasmus exchange next year, so this is another reason for having a blog. I don't know where I'm going, cause I have to apply this week, but my first wish is Lund, Sweden. Second option is Aalborg, Denmark. We will see ...

Enough for the first post on this brand new blog, cause I'm really tired. It's Mardi Gras (or pust in Slovene) and we were walking all day around the town, and it was cold and now I just want to go to bed. Oh yes, I almost forgot. I was a hobbit, my friend was the Witch King and her sister was Sauron (all from Lord of the Rings if you don't know). I think we looked amazing.

So this is it. First post on my new blog. Kaja is out.
